Standardised assessment of cognitive ability, academic achievement and memory — for children, adolescents and adults across the Hills District. Available individually or as cost-saving bundles.
A cognitive assessment answers a practical question: how does this person think, learn and remember? At Potentialz Unlimited in Bella Vista, our registered and clinical psychologists provide formal cognitive assessment using standardised, internationally-recognised instruments — the WISC-V and WAIS-IV for cognitive (thinking and reasoning) ability, the WIAT-III for academic achievement, and the CVLT-3 and RBANS for verbal learning and memory.
The right combination depends on your question — school support, a suspected learning disorder, giftedness, an NDIS application, or a change in memory or thinking. Below you can see each assessment, and the bundles that combine them into a single, integrated report at a lower total cost. You can also read our overview of Wechsler cognitive testing.
Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (5th Ed.)
Children 6–16
Overall cognitive ability across verbal comprehension, visual-spatial, fluid reasoning, working memory and processing speed.
Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (4th Ed.)
Adults 16+
The adult counterpart to the WISC — a full cognitive ability profile for adults.
Wechsler Individual Achievement Test (3rd Ed.)
Children & adults
Reading, writing and mathematics achievement. Paired with a cognitive ability test, it identifies the ability–achievement gap behind a specific learning disorder.
California Verbal Learning Test (3rd Ed.)
Adults
Verbal learning and memory — how information is encoded, retained and recalled over time.
Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status
Adults
A brief neuropsychological screen across attention, memory, language and visuospatial ability — useful as a baseline or for tracking change.
Identifying the gap between ability and achievement that underlies a specific learning disorder, including dyslexia.
Assessment for gifted programs, opportunity class and selective school applications.
Understanding cognitive strengths and weaknesses to guide learning strategies and classroom adjustments.
Cognitive evidence to support NDIS applications and plan reviews, often alongside an adaptive functioning measure.
Verbal learning and neuropsychological screening (CVLT-3, RBANS) to establish a baseline or track change.
Cognitive testing as part of a broader assessment — for example, ruling learning difficulties in or out during an ADHD evaluation.
Choose a single assessment, or combine them into a bundle for a more complete picture at a lower total cost than booking separately. Please contact the practice for current fees for each package.
WISC-V or WAIS-IV + written report
The core assessment for an overall cognitive ability score and profile.
Cognitive ability (WISC-V/WAIS-IV) + WIAT-III + integrated report
For specific learning disorders (incl. dyslexia), giftedness and school support — combined into one assessment at a lower total cost than booking the tests separately.
Cognitive ability + CVLT-3 (+ RBANS screen) + integrated report
Adds verbal learning and memory to the cognitive picture, in one coordinated assessment.
Cognitive ability + WIAT-III + CVLT-3 + RBANS + integrated report
The complete picture for complex learning, NDIS and detailed profiles.
Individual assessments (such as the WIAT-III achievement test or a standalone memory screen) are also available. Every package covers testing, scoring, interpretation, a feedback session and a comprehensive written report. Cognitive and educational assessments are generally not claimable under Medicare or a Mental Health Care Plan; please check any private health cover directly. Every assessment shares one intake interview, one feedback session and one integrated report. A bundle folds those shared steps together instead of charging for them twice.
An overall cognitive score on its own can miss a specific learning disorder or a memory weakness. Combining ability, achievement and memory gives the discrepancy analysis a diagnosis actually rests on.
Because the session time overlaps, the added cost of a second or third measure is smaller than a separate assessment — so a bundle works out lower than booking each test on its own.
Testing is coordinated into one block, so there is less time away from school or work — and a faster path to your written report.
A single integrated report covering ability, achievement and memory is what schools (adjustments, gifted and selective applications), NDIS planners and insurers expect. Piecemeal reports are more likely to be sent back.
The same psychologist administers and integrates every measure, so the findings are read together rather than stitched from different sources.
We clarify the question you need answered, take a developmental, educational and health history, and recommend the assessment or bundle that fits — so you only pay for what is useful.
One-on-one administration of the selected instruments in a quiet, distraction-free room, with breaks as needed. Longer bundles may be split across two visits.
Detailed scoring, interpretation of the cognitive, academic and memory findings together, and preparation of a single integrated report.
A plain-language explanation of the results, what they mean day to day, and practical recommendations — plus your comprehensive written report.
That is exactly what the initial interview is for. For a suspected learning disorder or giftedness, the Learning & Achievement bundle (cognitive ability + WIAT-III) is usually the right fit. For memory or thinking changes, the Cognitive + Memory bundle adds the CVLT-3 and RBANS. We recommend the smallest assessment that answers your question.
Each assessment shares one intake, one feedback session and one report. A bundle combines those shared steps, so the added cost of a second or third instrument is smaller than a separate booking — which makes the bundle lower in total than the same tests booked one at a time. Fees depend on the package and the psychologist, so we provide a written quote once we understand what you need. Please contact the practice for current fees. Cognitive and educational assessments are generally not claimable under Medicare or a Mental Health Care Plan, and neuropsychological screening is not Medicare-rebatable; some private health funds offer a partial rebate under psychology extras — check with your fund directly.
A single assessment is typically 3–4 hours of your time across an interview, testing and feedback. Larger bundles may be split across two testing visits. Your written report generally follows within two to three weeks.
A registered psychologist or, for complex and medico-legal work, our clinical psychologist Dr Gurprit Ganda. The same psychologist administers, interprets and reports every measure in your assessment.
Standardised scores with age-based comparisons, an integrated interpretation across the domains tested, and practical recommendations for school, work, NDIS or further support.
Individual assessments and bundles, with a detailed integrated report and practical recommendations.
