Child psychology for the Norwest family

Our rooms in the Norwest business park see children and families from across Norwest, Bella Vista, Kellyville and the surrounding Hills District. The common presentations: school anxiety and school refusal, big emotions and dysregulation, suspected ADHD or autism, friendship and social difficulties, and family change (separation, new siblings, loss).

We offer play therapy for children aged 3 to 10, age-adapted talk therapy for children 10 and up, and a full neurodevelopmental assessment pathway (ADHD, autism, cognitive assessment with the WISC-V, academic achievement with the WIAT-III) under one roof. If you are unsure whether play therapy or talk therapy is the right fit, our parent decision guide walks through it.

Our Bella Vista rooms are a short drive from most Norwest streets, and we offer early-morning and after-school appointment slots so school routines stay intact.

Child psychology FAQs — Norwest families

What ages do you see?

We see children from age 3 through to adolescence. Younger children (3–10) typically start with play therapy; from around 10 we move into age-adapted talk therapy or a blended approach. Our play vs talk therapy guide covers the decision in more depth.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed to book, but a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP unlocks Medicare rebates for up to ten sessions per calendar year. For NDIS-funded families, we accept self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants.

Can you provide reports for school learning support?

Yes — our assessment pathway produces a formal report suitable for sharing with schools to support learning adjustments, HSC provisions and classroom accommodations where appropriate.

Do you offer after-school appointments?

Yes — most of our Norwest families book 3:30pm or 4:30pm slots so children can come straight from school. We also offer early-morning slots and Saturdays by arrangement.

What is the pathway if we suspect ADHD or autism?

We start with a parent intake, then a structured assessment across attention, social communication, routines, and sensory processing — using validated instruments. The feedback session walks you through the full profile and the practical next steps, including (where indicated) a referral to a paediatrician or psychiatrist for medication consideration.

Live in a neighbouring suburb? Our child-psychology team also sees families at Bella Vista, Castle Hill, and Baulkham Hills — one clinic, same team.
