Why we recommend it

David Burns is one of the original cognitive therapy practitioners (his earlier book *Feeling Good* is a depression-treatment landmark). *When Panic Attacks* applies the same approach to anxiety, panic, and worry.

The book is exercise-heavy in the best way — Burns doesn't just explain CBT, he hands you the same worksheets clients fill in during structured CBT sessions. For someone in active CBT treatment, it's an excellent between-session companion. For someone not yet in therapy, it's a credible self-help starting point.

He's also direct about what CBT can and can't do, and when professional help is warranted. We respect that.

A note. This is reading material, not clinical treatment. If you’re working through something difficult, books complement therapy — they don’t replace it. Book a session with our team for personalised support.
